Are you an avid outdoors-person looking for an adventure partner who will also give you the best snuggles of your life??
Then look no further than Mako (like the shark)!
Mako is a 4 year old (DOB 5/21/2020) pitbull/Golden Retriever/setter mix. She is about 65 lbs of wiggles and love. She has no known health issues.
Rescued from the Central Oregon Humane Society in 2021, Mako has been healthy, playful, loyal, snuggly, energetic, curious, sweet, and loving from the start. She is easy to love and eager to learn. She's an outdoor gal with experience camping, biking, hiking, trail running, floating the river, and is happiest doing these things! She is trained with basic obedience commands such as sit, lay down, go to bed, touch, place, etc.
She gets along great with most dogs and has no issues at dog parks (but prefers the open trail). She is good with puppies and loves playdates and extended stays with dogs. All of which have been positive experiences for her. That being said, she is protective over her people and has some resource anxiety. This has been our biggest issue - living with and sharing resources with another dog long-term.
Why Mako needs a new home:
Mako and I moved in with my partner and his dog, Karoline about 4 months ago. We had high hopes that Mako and Karoline would get along, as they had spent a lot of time together prior to moving in. Unfortunately, Mako has not taken well to sharing space, attention, and resources. Mako's anxiety is at an all time high and the tension between the dogs is hard to handle. It breaks my heart to admit that it has become clear that Mako is truly unhappy in her new living situation. She thrived as an only dog and has been the greatest companion. But I believe a household where she can be the only dog will allow her to be the best dog she can be.
Mako would also come with:
- Toys and treats
- A month and a half of high quality kibble
- A 6 month supply of heartworm/flea/tick medication ($225) value
- A high quality crate and bed (that she loves and is her safe space)
- Up to date on all vaccinations
- A known patient for Bethany Family Pet Clinic, a highly regarded vet in the area
- Leash and collar with name tag
- Ruffwear harness, life vest, winter/rain jacket
- Microchipped, spayed and registered
- General grooming supplies (brushes, nail clippers, etc.)
It pains me to admit that I think she would be better off with a new owner. But she deserves love and a home that is not as anxiety-inducing as this new one has been for her. She deserves the perfect home.
