Meet Otto!
He is a super sweet snuggle bug who loves being spoiled. He is about 4-5 yrs old and 47 lbs of Texas mutt. Staffordshire terrier/hound?? He is short and long. Chocolate chip cookie dough color, tater-tot shape.
He loves to be around people. His favorite hobbies are laying in the sun, doing a few zoomies in the yard, laying next to you while you watch movies (pass some popcorn please;) and going on fair-weather-walks. He is accustomed to snuggling with you on the furniture and loves being on his blankets. He likes to have his teeth brushed and does great at bath time. He loves to go on car rides and does really well.
He was found wandering the streets- starving, missing a toe nail, and heartworms. He’s been nursed back to health, current on all vaccines, and is on heart guard. He is microchipped, up to date on all shots, neutered, potty trained, leash trained, and knows how to sit, shake, and wait. He responds very well to positive training! He has been nice to all friends and other dogs when we go on walks or have people over.
We adopted him to be a bestie for our other dog. The sad part is, unfortunately, he would be better off as an only dog. He has been traumatized from his nights on the streets and feels the need to fight our other dog for his food. After consulting with a behaviorist, we think he needs a home with no other dogs. However we will keep him if we do not find a suitable home.
When we have both dogs out for a walk, treats can be handed out to both of them, sitting together, frequently, with no issues. But if he is around another dog and food is on the counter, sometimes he feels compelled to fight for it. People can reach in his food and move it around with no issues. We can take things away from him and he has never reacted at all.
He is also crate trained and sometimes wanders in and chews on his toys. He will bark when left alone in the crate. When we have to leave, he is un-crated in a room with chew toys and our other dog. They can see out the window- he does not bark at the window or at other dogs.
He is very vocal when he plays so he will need a friend who understands that. He is very playful with our friend’s dog. Large dogs make him nervous.
If you are able to thoroughly spoil Otto, offer him a loving and positive reward based home- please contact me!
$200 rehoming fee- that we will donate to Family Dog New Life Shelter. Children and cats are unknown. You must own your own home and have a fenced yard.
